6. How do you get what you want?We all know how to get what we want some of the time. I asked some young people what they do to get what they want. They live near Childrens Hospital in Denver, Colorado. I like how they answered my question. Heres what they said.
"How do you get what you want?" My daddy gives me it. My mama gives me a cookie. My sister gives me a Barbie Doll. Daddy gives me my Liberator." Marie, age 6 "I want "(Then I point and vocalize about the specific thing I want.) Ellen, age 7 "Jim. Mommy. Sandra. I need help. Drive my wheelchair.. Face. Smiling face. Jim B. I am 7."Jim, age 6 "Want." (His mother asked him if thats what he says to get things, and he nodded his head, "yes".") Malcolm, age 7 Thanks to Tracy Kovach for her assistance.
