USSAAC (United States Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) USSAAC is the only national association in the U.S. specifically designed to address the needs of persons who are either severely speech impaired or unable to speak. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to methods of communication that enhance (augment) or replace (alternative) conventional forms of expression.

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Communication Enhancement is a national project funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Its purpose is to improve technologies that further the development of communication, language, natural speech, discourse skills, and literacy of persons with significant communication disorders. There are 7 partners: Augmentative Communication, Inc. (that's us), Boston Children's Hospital, Duke University, University of Nebraska, Penn State University, Temple University and the University of Buffalo - New York.

ACOLUG
ACOLUG is a LISTSERV created to assist people who use augmentative communication, their friends and families to discuss issues related to augmentative communication, such as equipment, funding, learning techniques and supports.
CAMA
Communication Aid Manufacturers Association is a nonprofit organization of leading manufacturers of AAC software and hardware. The site contains links to manufacturer's web pages. Regional workshops are also listed.
VIKOM

The Danish Resource Centre on Communication and Multiple Disabilities concerning Children and Young People without Spoken Language (VIKOM) serves the whole country of Denmark. The aim of the Centre is to support professionals working with children and young people with multiple disabilities with complex communication needs so these individuals gain access to available aids, forms and methods of communication so they can be understood. Forty trained resource professionals from different counties and municipalities and from various professional fields and sectors are working to initiate developments in their local area. Activities include (1) arranging annual follow-up trainings and conferences, (2) publishing newsletters and other informational materials and (3) serving as consultants to local development projects.
